Dean Boysen has filled many diverse roles as a musician over the course of some 30 years. His early start as trumpeter began in the mid-70’s as a four-year member of the Youth of America group established and conducted by Lyle Bardo (CBS orchestra conductor). He later went on to become a recording artist with the soul/funk group Collage as well as a studio musician recording more than 40 LPs and CDs for various pop/soul, Latin and jazz fusion artists.  Dean studied with Marvin Nelson, Carl Leach and master teacher Claude Gordon.  In addition to being a member of the Amici Brass Quintet, he also performs regularly with Brazzissimo, a 10-piece brass ensemble, Gabriel's Trio, (heraldic trumpets), Viva la Musica and the California Pops Orchestra

Keith Johns began his trumpet studies at the age of nine and soon knew that it would forever be a part of his life. As a young musician he performed in the California Youth Symphony as Principal Trumpet, studying privately with Adam Gordon. Keith continued his musical pursuits in college, earning a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance degree with honors at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His teachers included Robert Karon, Dr. Lester Monts, and Grant Hungerford. Upon completion of his degree, Keith moved to the Midwest to pursue his Master's Degree in Music at Northwestern University where studied with master teacher Vincent Chicowicz. Keith returned to the Bay Area in 1996 and founded the Myriad Music School with his wife, pianist Simone Bley. Keith is an active Bay Area musician and enjoys playing in a variety of ensembles. His favorite musical passion is brass chamber music. When not playing or teaching music, he is working on his Flight Instructor Certificate at Diamond Aviation in San Carlos. Keith is the proud father of a silly little 5 year old boy and a baby girl. 

John Monroe is a graduate of Cornell University, where he was Principal Trombone in the Cornell University Wind Ensemble under the batons of Bernard Gilmore and William Campbell. Mr. Monroe has been a member of the Ohlone Wind Orchestra since 2000, and had previously played in the San Jose Wind Symphony from 1997 to 2000. He is principal trombone with Brazzissimo, a brass choir based in Oakland, CA.  He has been a member of the Stanford Trombone Quartet for the past 13 years.  He has also played in the pit orchestra of the Stanford Savoyards since 1974. He is presently a student of Tony Collins. John resides in Palo Alto, California, with his wife, Meg.  He is retired from the Hewlett-Packard Company.  When not playing trombone or consulting with HP, he meddles in the operations of Done-Again Farms, a family-owned almond orchard.

 

 

Bill Eich switched from trumpet to french horn in junior high, and studied horn with Gerald Baker. He graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in business administration. During the Korean War he served in Air Force bands, including the Air Force Band of The Golden West. For almost 20 years he played in Denver’s Brico Symphony under Dr. Antonia Brico, and the Denver Concert Band.  Bill, an active freelancer, has played with the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Walnut Creek Concert Band, Contra Costa Woodwind Quintet, and the Vallejo Symphony.  He currently plays with East Bay Brass Co., Brazzissimo, Tassajarra Symphony, and the Diablo Symphony where he has been principal horn for 30 years.  His father trained him to be a watchmaker, but he spent most of his working years in pharmaceutical sales from which he retired in 1992.  Bill holds a private pilot’s license, but now he mostly flies radio controlled model airplanes.  

 

Jay Fischer played principal tuba with the San Jose Wind Symphony  from1998-2003. Currently he is a member of the Ohlone Wind Symphony. For the past 10 years he has been playing in a number of brass quintets in the Bay Area including Amici Brass, and also performs with the Palo Alto Philharmonic, Saratoga Symphony, Peninsula Symphony, College of Marin Orchestra, and the San Luis Obisbo Symphony. He holds both a Bachelor of Music degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Auburn University.  Jay's “real job” is a Technical Recruiter.  His hobbies include Internet chess, woodworking, antique tool collecting and rose gardening.  He resides in San Jose with his wife and two daughters.
